I recieved my early Christmas gift from one of my special friends , and boy it was a surprise opening the gift bag from Same Avenue. Inside, there was a Chanel Lipstick from their holiday collection. Someone answered my prayers. I always wanted a darker shade for the holiday , and winter/fall. I'm no make-up guru, but Chanel brings it out of me. The lipstick is a matte base finish , and i'm in love with it all. This shade gives you the drama you need with out the full additional make up you would normally would apply. I thought it would be nice to go half of my water line with my NYX matte black eyeliner , and I'm on my way out the door with my dramatic lips.

Oh! I always remember to exfoliate , and moisturize my lips because everything seems not to go as plan without that step. Not only with my lipstick, any other brands within the market.

Enjoy you holiday! I will with mines although I have tons of work to do on my portfolio.

When seeing this photograph shot from behind the scenes of my concept we shoot December 10th. We will be submitting to a magazine soon enough, I've taken the moment to realize this is the awakening moment for me. Though. I do have a longer journey ahead of me. I can already taste what it could be like to plan something months before time, creating mood boards so that everyone can understand what direction your head is going, and also bringing together a team of creative people that know what you want and what you asked for.

Every time I began to plan something, I'm always learning something new. A stylist in general does it all when planning the concept except shoot the images. I had to know the lighting I wanted; Hair; Make-up; and clothing. I had to direct the model so that they can translate the mood through the picture.

As I watch my assistant stylist: Sylvia Clark add the accessories I picked out, and Hair Stylist Elijah Greene make touch ups I start to wonder off into how things have finally come together. The dress I pulled from Long Tran's Spring/Summer 2013 collection was the perfect fit.

I'm excited to see the final edits, and can't wait until we send out our photos to a few magazine publications.

After a while there will be a video release from the shoot. As of now, I'm not sure if I can release the name of our concept but all I can say is " In due time."

What has been happening in my life?

Well I've started wearing lipstick in either black or bright red; I've painted my nails black, and sometimes I would add micro-beads to give my nails a new dimension of something new; and started wearing eye-liner because I'm one to break those boundaries that was set in front of me. Being fierce is not giving a care in the world , and knowing who you are as an individual. Another way of showing to the world I'm fierce is buying a Karl Alley hat that states that I am, what I already know .

Fashion Report: Long Tran SS13

For the first time in Long Tran's history this was the awaking moment for him and his fashion label Long Tran. Tran is a New York based designer whom I have had the chance of working with using his amazing pieces for my shoot that spoken a pure vision in the word fashion. Tran's collection gives you everything you would ask for from a fashion label, Art, creativity, and innovation.

Long Tran had the honor of presenting his new collection during NYFW showing his Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

When viewing the collection, and lookbook. I could not resist from seeing the beauty in both garments for Menswear and Womenswear. The Menswear represented a soft feel with the elements of pastel colours along with different textures, and a Masculine feel of tailoring , and metals that were incorporated in the styling of the line. Womenswear With the obscure use of raw silk and volumized lace, a soft nude is the foundation color of this seasons collection., and use of sheer fabrications capture the entire theme of softness.

All together Long Trans vision was to make the crowd realize that his garments are pure art and using different shapes that captivates the feel of Avant Garde.

Another interesting thing I find cool is how designer such as him turns the art form of Origami that is originated from Japanese culture into their collections. In Long Tran's case he's done a swell job.

What were you thinking about when design your collection for spring.summer 13?
I thought about the color and silhouette

In compression from your last collection what's different about it this season?
More texture and more look. Silk and lace for women, light wool, cotton and silk for men. Of course, there is a different color pallette..

How would you define your city's fashion? And how does it pull into your collection?
New York? I love this fashion city, however it is too busy. The place from NYC - Dimenna Center was where I have my show at. It is amazing and inspired me show for runway and the collection as well.

What was the process of putting everything together for fashion week?
Wow, it is a long plan (6 month before). We start with picking the location, the the collection, the shoot, then the show, but there is something more than that - the models and the sponspors.

What was the feeling to show case your first collection during NYFW?
I was nervous the whole time but after the show, I was so happy and excited

How do you select your models?
My PR (Drew) and I had a casting 2 weeks before the show to find new faces that fit with the look I want for the show

What's your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?
The favorite part are creating and seeing my designs come true.

What matters to you most as a fashion designer?
The concept, ideas and how to translate from sketches to actual garments. For others, they focus more on the business side, but to me, passion cannot be bought buy money. It is important to have a skill and ideas to make it happen. I rather being poor and make people inspire by my works rather than live rich and design simple clothes.

How do you edit your collection each season for press, bloggers, etc?

Showing more dramatic clothes is my goal for each collection to impress others. Additionally, it have to look completely different from the last collection.

The collection seemed to be influenced by origami , What was your vision for this and incorporating it into your collection?

For the spring SS12 collection, I tried to create clothes in different fabric, different texture, different shape something that people never seen before. Origami is something that I think aabout for the collection from pleating the fabric.

How would you define your personal style?

My personal style will be: simple and clean

How would you define the style your line exemplifies?

I wished I could create a new vocabulary to describe my aesthetic for my line, I would said unique and artistic are what I am going for

How would someone use some of your pieces in daily life?

To go to art gallery, or special events related to fashion or they could use some of the more simple pieces for street wear or daily basic ( still look high end)

Life as a Stylist?

My life as a stylist has just begun ! I look for future events to happen, Style for the biggest publications, Fashion shows, and collaborate with a designer too create a new collection. The world has so many things to conquer in so little time that I have on this place called earth.

I've learned that there are so many different egos of creativity, We all think differently.

Sometimes you have to fight for your vision too heard most of the time. You never want to push too many buttons until the point they say he/she doesn't have work ethic, In some situatuions I feel that you have to say and may even accompany both visions too have a make it work moment.

I'm proud too know that i'm making moves. When I went too someone they said I was moving too fast when I felt that just maybe I wasn't moving fast enough. Lets say my doctor couldn't get me off my daily dose of detrimenation too succed and be successful.lol

Life as a stylist is wonderful. stressful, fun, glamours, and everything fashion.

I do enjoy every moment of it.

Sometimes I wonder if people would ever understand the extreme amount of work then just going into it. Seeing an image is nothing compared to being in action.

Hello,

I feel that i've neglected my blog with not posting my style choices of the day. I've been busy doing everything, and mean it. The school season has started! This only means that it would consume my time with homework, papers, and well colleges. You heard it folks! Colleges. I've started my senior year of high school and i'm already hearing teachers tell us students "apply for college early.", "pay your senior dues." , "SAT's are coming around.", and the list goes on.

I'm already worried about graduation, and trying to maintain B averages in my main course classes.

Then with a load of me trying to conquer my career as a head fashion stylist/creative director of my own style team Burnette & Burke.

I want to do the best I can in my endeavors whether its school, and fashion.

I'm a fighter! It will be done.

Other news, I'm happy to announce that my birthday will be here in 1 more day, and i'll be 18 years of age. Hello! Legal.

Well not too drink!

Many people have asked me., Darius what will you have planned?

Then thought to myself why not go too a club?

No, I feel that is kind of clichè of a person of my age too head out do some wild things like dance all night. I Rather be at home with the people I love along with food, friends, and a small cup cake with 1 lit candle placed in the center.

Then make my 18th wish.

The September issue 2012

I'm giving full honor and gratitude toVogue Magazine for they have been going for 120 years delivering fashion by the decade. Vogue as you know it has evolved rapidly over the years with just as a simple weekly publication back in 1892, and soon later became a bi-weekly once taken over by Condé Montrose Nast. After that Vogue has grown into a bigger publication, and most inspirational power house for a fashion magazine. Still capturing the fashion of today's time period.

I'm even happier to know that Lady Gaga was represented to be on the front cover in a Custom Marc Jacobs gown. I say this is one of the best issues I've seen this year for the September issue. I hope to receive this as a gift for my birthday which is September 13.

Other news, Gaga... you better work !!

Today, I've taken on, moved through, and conquered the entire world right with only 2 days to finish my fashion commitments.
Saturday I received a message from a representative wanting me to work with a fresh face to the modeling world for willamenia models and another agency in NY. Other then that I know I had a short amount of time to get these chores done. Since I don't drive, I called my boyfriend to take me to the mall early in the morning around 11am stayed until the stores opened at 12am. I really had to pick up two items that were easy and affordable too purchase. Then headed downtown to Rumors Boutique to pull tons of simple looks and pieces.
NEXT MORNING! I had to wake up around 6:55am and the shoot started at 8:00am. I picked out what I wanted to wear and headed out the door.(Thank goodness I packed everything the night before)
Any who, I'm super excited that I was contacted to be apart of the shoot for the model and seriously hope for the best that she makes it in the industry along with other wonderful models of the industry ! She could possibly be the next Naomi Campbell. Also nice to know my work will be in her portfolio bring the up most madness to the scene while she's giving fever, and I believe the agencies are going to eat it up ! (Figuratively speaking)
I loved the fact that the room was a very positive group , energetic with the model, her mother ,and the Make up artist Lulu, who I have been longing to meet, and nice seeing the photographer again since the last time I assisted a shoot with a different stylist, recieved the opportunity to style myself that day a couple of months ago when being fresh to the fashion styling world.
Alright dolls. I'm fatigued and need a nap. Lol
17 and making moves but I have much more that I have too prove. Additionally, most important is myself and last others.
P.s : while pulling clothing from rumors. I found these oversized shades(sunnies) and i'm in love with them. They are the ones I've wanted since the last collaboration with H&M last season, and to find them in that store was worth buying.
Excited to see the finale product!

Menswears for the soul.

Forever I've been in this loop of womenswear with pretty gowns , and dramatic clothing. I never give menswear a chance. I said if I were to design for the common male he had to be bold, wild, and ready to set a new standard for menswear across the world. My men will be youthful, but cares about what he wears every day, and dramatic in a low key sense of style. I also wouldn't mind having a production that allows clothing bigger than XS-XL. I feel that everyone has the right to feel fashionable and free rather than think twice about the size of the clothing. Albert Albaz does it for Lanvin Menswear collection with some of his pieces why couldn't there be a brand that have that but only for a reasonable prices point. Designing clothing for people should be fair. Agree? instead I'd have to wait for a collaboration with a plus size brand. I don't think so. People could try to lose a few pounds to get back into those sizes but what about clothing for the person that thinks " I'm trying to lose these pounds but I don't want to dare think about a those hideous looking clothes that hang on the rack at the local malls."

I'd have to agree , I barely shop at the mall sometimes. Luckily I go into Jcpenny's to find some pieces that are worth looking at everyday in my wardrobe. All I have to say is that when I have a mass produced product. I would be sure to care for those that need a spice in their life.

MSGM: THE AUTUMN/WINTER 2012 CAMPAIGN

I seen this collection floating around on Tumblr and couldn't help but blog about it !

I love the experimentation of flowers and fire works that gives you a time of excitement for Winter/fall 2012. I couldn't help but to feel my medication has been restocked , and I feel better already. The video was even better considering that it focused on digital movements but it was very functional. Shot by Luca Finotti, and styled by Paolo Zagorei. The models were an amazing pick for this campaign and their names are: Quinta Witzel, Ioana Timoce, Simone Nobili & Samuele Visentin.

Well enough of me trying to explain how amazing they are and the clothing is! Watch for yourself... Enjoy

I'm back and have news to share with you all !

Tuesday, I went downtown in Petersburg, VA to help assist a shoot with a stylist I worked with before I started my very own style team and it was all the pleasure of meeting the model Named Jenna Luxe. It so happens she was the face of a music video called where is Molly produced by a french born Dj that received tons of hits and tweeted by Madonna. " I don't condone in drug usage."

But you have to admire her !!

Other then that I met her on our way to the hotel , when we were shooting with her. I was in pure shock of how see moved, in an electric matter. The setting of the shoot was unimaginable because of the grungy look of it. but it was perfect for shooting a grunge ,sexy . chic photograph. I even brought my vintage fox to the shoot so that Jenna can rock the photographs out !

I do hope to work with her in the future!!

I'm excited to see her again , and see the finale photos.
